StatSheet's Ohio Valley Player of the Week for January 30th goes to Tennessee Tech's Kevin Murphy. Jacksonville State's Ronnie Boggs has been recognized as StatSheet Ohio Valley Freshman of the Week. And last but not least, Kellen Thornton from Tennessee State is StatSheet's Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week. Murphy put up big numbers in shooting (50%), rebounding (8 per game), and assists (4 per game). The Tennessee Tech senior played well for the Golden Eagles in a victory versus Eastern Kentucky and an unfortunate loss to Morehead State.

Murphy led all scoring for the Golden Eagles with 34 points while adding 3 assists in an 82-65 win over Eastern Kentucky. He followed that up with a team-leading 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 56-50 loss to Morehead State.

This is the first StatSheet Ohio Valley Player of the Week honor for Kevin Murphy. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Jacksonville State sophomore Nick Cook. Honorable mention goes to John Fraley, a senior from Austin Peay. The highest ranking player from Eastern Illinois was Alfonzo McKinnie who finished 17th.

StatSheet Ohio Valley Freshman of the Week: Jacksonville State's Ronnie Boggs

Ronnie Boggs played an average of 31 minutes starting both games for Jacksonville State. In a 63-45 win over Eastern Illinois, Boggs registered 4 points and 3 rebounds. Following that in a 76-65 win over SIU Edwardsville, he led all rebounding with 9 and also put up 6 steals.

This is a repeat honor for Ronnie Boggs, making it the second time he has won StatSheet Ohio Valley Freshman of the Week. Darion Rackley from Jacksonville State grabs runner-up. Angelo Warner from Morehead State takes honorable mention.

StatSheet Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week: Tennessee State's Kellen Thornton

Junior Kellen Thornton, a 6-7 reserve forward, averaged 18 minutes over two games for the Tigers. In a 72-59 win over Tennessee-Martin, Thornton put up 14 points and 3 rebounds. After that, in a last-minute 91-85 win over Eastern Kentucky, he racked up 14 points on 85% shooting.

This is the first time this season that Kellen Thornton has won the StatSheet Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week. Kenny Moore, a senior forward from Tennessee State, is runner up. Kahlil Owens, a junior forward/center from Morehead State, receives honorable mention. Eastern Illinois players have been named StatSheet Ohio Valley Player of the Week once this season.
